| Date | August 2, 2027 |
|---|---|
| Type | Total solar eclipse |
| Zodiac sign | ♌ Leo 9° |
| Duration | over 6 minutes of totality near Luxor, Egypt — one of the longest of the century |
Where it is visible
The roughly 258 km wide path of totality crosses southern Spain and Gibraltar, northern Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, central Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Somalia before ending over the Indian Ocean.
How to watch safely
Never look at the Sun without protection — not even through sunglasses, exposed film or smoked glass. Use eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 standard, or project the image onto a screen. You may take the glasses off only during totality, when the Sun is completely covered, and must put them back on the moment the first sliver of light returns.
What this eclipse means
A total solar eclipse in Leo acts as an intense new moon for your courage to be seen, to love and to create. Leo is tied to the heart, joy, recognition and play, so this eclipse highlights where you’ve dimmed your own light or overplayed ego defenses. You may feel a strong urge to step onto a new stage, claim a fresh creative role or redefine how you give and receive affection. Old stories around pride, shame, visibility or “deserving” attention can surface for rewriting. This is a time to realign with what genuinely lights you up, rather than performing for approval.
What it supports
- Begin or recommit to a creative project that feels personally meaningful
- Allow yourself to be more visible, whether in love, work or personal talents
- Reflect on where you perform for applause versus where you act from true passion
- Spend time with activities and people that genuinely warm your heart
Better avoided
- Making impulsive dramatic gestures just to prove a point or get attention
- Slipping into old patterns of people-pleasing or over-the-top pride
- Judging your worth only by external praise or instant results
