Stellar Arcana Issue #2

Geocaching:

Anyone who is interested in the idea of treasure hunting should try geocaching.  It is one of the most entertaining sports around.  (Though some would argue that it’s not a sport since you don’t have people basing into one another, and you don’t even have a ball.  But then again, if we can call curling a sport, I think that makes it open season for everything.)

What you do is you look online for a “cache” that someone has left close to where you live, (or far away if you want to travel,) you look up the coordinates of it, you use a GPS navigation system to go to that spot, then you follow the clues left by the person to find the actual cache.  Once you find it, you sign a log book, take whatever is in there, leave something else of your own, seal it back up and hide the cache again.  There are geocaches of all kinds!  There are complex riddles, maps you have to follow, paths, rocks you have to run away from, tribesmen who throw spears at you, guys whose heads explode… wait.  Okay, maybe a few of those are an exaggeration, but you get the idea.  And it’s a great way to get exercise.

I’ve been posting some I’ve seen from around the world, but to see the place for yourself, go to:
